Story
On the 16th of October 2025, a life-changing event occurred when I experienced a seizure in my sleep. This led to a whirlwind of investigations, including an MRI scan that revealed a 6cm tumour in my brain. The following weeks were a blur, as I navigated through shock and uncertainty. I was prescribed anti-epileptic medication and steroids, which came with challenging side effects.
On the 3rd of November 2025, I underwent an awake craniotomy performed by the incredible Neurosurgical team at James Cook in Middlesbrough. Their support has been invaluable throughout this journey. The surgery successfully removed almost all of the tumour, which was diagnosed as a low-grade glioma. Thankfully, no further treatment was recommended, and I am now preparing for my first follow-up scan at the beginning of March this year.
In light of my experience and to support others facing similar challenges, I am organizing a sponsored walk on the 21st of March 2026 as part of the Twilight Walk - Walk It Your Way 2026 event. My goal is to raise £1000 for The Brain Tumour Charity, the world's leading organization dedicated to brain tumour research and support. They are committed to saving and improving lives by finding new treatments and providing essential support for those affected by brain tumours.
I invite you to join me in this important cause. Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals battling brain tumours. Together, we can help ensure that no one faces this journey alone.
