Story

On Sunday 27th April, I will be taking to the streets of London for the TCS London Marathon.

I am raising funds for St Richard's Hospice so they can continue to provide their free care and services to patients and family members in Worcestershire.

As many of you will know we lost my wonderful mum in November 2022. Ophelia was just 8 weeks old and Evie was having to come to terms with a new sister, starting school and then losing her granny on top of all that. I was trying to deal with my own grief, post pregnancy hormones and offering support where it was needed and, quite frankly, it all became too much.

I reached out to St Richards (the hospice that would have supported mum if things had been different) and they were able to arrange counselling for me. Around the same time I also started running. A mixture of the two gave me the time and head space I needed to try and process everything that was going on and to just be me for a little while.

Running has continued to be my outlet and the new challenges it is bringing are giving me something to focus on and work towards. After completing the London landmarks half marathon in April I started to wonder whether I could do the big one. I decided it’s now or never and I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to run the London marathon next year to raise funds for such a special charity.

It breaks my heart that mum couldn’t get the peace and calm that St Richards offers at the end of her life, but by running in her memory, I know she would be proud and honoured to be part of achieving that for others

I was trying to think of a word that could describe you mom.. of course there are many but one stuck in my head so I looked it up to be sure and it read.. ‘More concerned with the needs and wishes of others than with ones own’. Selfless.

Any donation, no matter how big or small, would be so gratefully received. Thank you all xx
