This October I am taking on my FIRST (and probably last) Full Marathon.

For those of you who know my running related injury history you’ll probably think I’m mad and I 100% am!

I’ve no idea if I can do it but I’m hoping my stubbornness will pull me through!

I’ve chosen to raise money for Bristol Children’s hospital. These amazing people performed life saving heart surgery on my gorgeous little niece Isla when she was just 18months old. Isla had a vascular ring which is essentially an artery wrapped around her wind pipe and would not have survived without the surgery.

Fast forward and Isla is now 8years old. She is full of life and an absolute ray of sunshine! The happiest, silliest most excitable child I know! To look at her and be around her, you’d have absolutely no idea that she now has an enlarged aortic valve and requires yet another life saving open heart surgery.

This time around, she is old enough to understand the seriousness of her condition and the best and worst case scenarios.

Understandably, we are all devastated to have to go through this AGAIN.

BUT I will be forever grateful to Bristol children’s hospital for keeping this little girl in our lives because she is just amazing and a tough little cookie! I know she will bounce back again in true chaotic Isla style!

I will never be able to repay them for what they’ve done but this is a start right?!

Everytime this race gets tough I will be thinking of what she has had to endure and remind myself that a marathon is nothing in comparison!!
