Story

This November, I’m running the Rubislaw Fraserburgh Half Marathon to raise money for MND Scotland, in memory of my uncle Stewart, who passed away in 2011 from Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

MND is a devastating and ultimately fatal condition that gradually takes away a person’s ability to walk, talk, eat, and breathe. Around 500 people in Scotland are currently living with MND, with about 200 new diagnoses each year. Tragically, the average life expectancy is only around 18 months following diagnosis.

Watching a loved one face this disease is something that never leaves you and It’s one of the reasons I’ve dedicated my career to researching MND — to better understand its causes and, one day, help find a cure.

MND Scotland are a phenomenal charity who provide vital care and support to people living with MND and their families across Scotland. They are also an incredible partner in research, working closely with scientists like me to turn discoveries into real hope for the MND community.

Every donation, big or small, truly makes a difference. It helps fund life-changing care, emotional support, and cutting-edge research — all bringing us closer to a future free from MND.

Thank you so much for your support 💙
