Story

It’s been many years since I attempted a half marathon, and I’m not expecting to break any records (or previous times!) but it seemed like a perfect opportunity to raise some money for a local charity, Greenwich Wildlife Network.

GWN are a small local charity covering the Greenwich and Bexley boroughs, staffed and supported by volunteers. They attend to wildlife in danger and in need, as well as the odd domestic referred to them where an owner cannot be found, helping where they’re able or providing advice or referrals to other organisations as needed.

I first found them when I was looking for a local charity to help with an ill parakeet I found at the roadside which unfortunately passed away. I began to then follow their Facebook page with interest and awe, observing the most amazing rescues, their efforts at rehabilitating a range of injuries in a variety of animals, with the ultimate aim of reintroducing them back into the wilds of the city.

Their constant reliance on public support to continue their amazing work is extremely clear. They do amazing things, and if I can raise even a small amount of money to help them in their work I’m sure it would make an enormous difference to them, and your sponsorship will definitely help me to get around the 13.1 miles!!
