Story
I’m walking for my beautiful wonderful Mum. When memory started to be an issue for her, it brought up the anxiety that she had as I was growing up. As her father had dementia and it was something that she had never wanted to ever experience again. That plauged her all through our childhood. When she was misdiagnosed, there was no support for her.
She struggled to find any information about what this meant for her and we all resorted to Dr Google to find answers. When the diagnosis was changed a year later to Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer’s Society immediately contacted her and had information and programmes in place to support her. The family were really surprised and pleased. The difference, gave her some of her confidence back. It allowed her to have hope for the future. And work towards something. I’m walking for the Alzheimer’s Society today to allow them to work, supporting more people like my mum. Providing reassurance, education, and a community that supports each other. So that like my Mum, they can begin to get their smiles back! Research into brain function and new medications can mean that the impact of Alzheimer’s and diseases like it are reduced.
Please donate if you can. Or just give me a smile and a good luck to help me continue training in this 30 degree heat!
Thank you.
