My sister and I will be taking on an Arctic challenge in Sweden 🇸🇪. We want to make the awareness of dementia and it’s debilitating, distressing affects it has on the person and families. This cruel disease can take hold if anyone at anytime it has no age restrictions it doesn’t care who you are and I want to make the awareness that we need more research so if your one of the unlucky families that have been through or are going through let’s make people aware…..I will be be building a snow hole which we will be sleeping in and the temperature will be around -30🥶, also we will be cross country skiing 🎿 and a cheeky husky ride 😊
We will be donating any donations to Dementia care and research due to our mother being diagnosed with this terrible illness 😢 A bit about my mum….. she loved to travel, she had an amazing sense for adventure, she worked, she had four children, two boys and two girls, I’m the youngest. About four years ago we noticed some small changes in her behaviour, very slight, every day is different and challenging but she manages to live on her own and with her families help she’s thriving. But the spectrum is vast and we think she’s one of the ‘Lucky’ ones…….. we have friends who have lost and are rapidly losing their loved ones! If anyone asks me ‘how’s your mum’ I like to say she’s doing great, I like to look at the positives because there are plenty……. But the reality is no she’s not fine she struggles with every day, we struggle every day. She can’t remember all the wonderful countries she been to, her conversations are limited, she forgets our names………. So come on let’s get donating let’s see if this wonderful hospital that does research can find a cure.
My sister works at the University Hospital Coventry and we will be accompanied by other nurses, doctors and staff!
