Story
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity providing specialised nursing care and expert youth support for young people aged 13 to 24 with cancer. Every day, they support teenagers and young adults facing a diagnosis that turns their world upside down at a time when life should be about independence, plans, and possibility.
Cancer doesn’t just interrupt education, friendships, and future hopes – it can leave young people feeling isolated, frightened, and out of place on adult or children’s wards. Teenage Cancer Trust works to ensure young people receive specialist care in dedicated teenage units, surrounded by others their own age, with expert staff who understand both cancer and the challenges of being young.
The charity creates safe spaces where young people can feel understood, rebuild confidence, and retain a sense of normality during the toughest period of their lives. For some, this support helps them get through months of brutal treatment. For others, it helps them make memories, find their voice, and feel seen at a time when everything feels uncertain.
Impact
A cancer diagnosis in young adulthood often means putting life on hold. Many young people face disrupted education, lost employment opportunities, mental health struggles, and long-term financial hardship – alongside the physical and emotional toll of cancer itself. Families and carers also feel this strain, balancing work, finances, and constant worry.
Specialist teenage and young adult care makes a proven difference. It improves emotional wellbeing, treatment experiences, and long-term outcomes, helping young people feel less alone and more in control during an incredibly difficult time.
By fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust, you are helping ensure no young person has to face cancer without the right care, the right environment, and the support they deserve – today, and for years to come.
