HCPT Gp 720 - 2025 - Virtual run/walk/cycle/swim 1365 miles UK to Lourdes

Since 1956, experienced HCPT volunteers have taken 1,000s of children and adults, with a variety of needs, on life changing pilgrimage holidays to the shrine of Lourdes in France. We are of all faiths and none. Thank you for your support.

Story

The HCPT Armed Forces Region Group 720 will walk/run/cycle/swim the equivalent/virtual distance of 1365 miles from UK to Lourdes France, prior to the Easter 2025 trip in April 25. This is to raise vital funds to enable us to travel with and support the children in our Armed Forces community. Any donation gratefully received.

HCPT Group 720's virtual challenge is to collect all members of the group from their home locations in the UK and walk, run, cycle or swim and then continue to Lourdes in the Pyrenees in France, at total of 1365 miles.

The route starts in Southport then heads to Harworth: Approximately 100 miles (160 km) southeast.

From Harworth to High Wycombe: Approximately 140 miles (225 km) south.

High Wycombe to Bath: Approximately 85 miles (135 km) west.

Bath to Taunton: Approximately 60 miles (95 km) southwest.

Taunton to near Exeter: Approximately 30 miles (50 km) southwest.

Near Exeter to Gosport: Approximately 150 miles (240 km) east.

Gosport to Lourdes: Approximately 800 miles (1,290 km) south, including crossing the English Channel into France.

For over 40 years, groups from the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Army have travelled on a pilgrimage holiday to Lourdes at Easter and during the Summer under the banner of HCPT (please can you hyperlink to the HCPT website). There are different categories of groups within the Armed Forces Region and they support children aged 7-18, young adults 18-25 and older adults and veterans. All the beneficiaries who travel to Lourdes traditionally have a connection with the Armed Forces Community and will have some form of physical, mental, social, educational and/or developmental needs.
