I’m Ellen and have just been diagnosed with breast cancer for the 4th time in 20 years. I’m due to start chemotherapy, which I previously undertook at the age of 33, and this time I have decided to take control and shave my hair before I let the treatment take it.

For anyone who has been through chemotherapy they will understand how distressing it is to lose your hair, even when you’re expecting it. To turn the negative experience into a positive one, I’ve decided to do this as a fundraising event and something that a local charity will benefit from. Freda’s Community Playgroup and Pre-School is a volunteer run local charity that benefits children in their early years. My niece and nephews have enjoyed attending and thrived in the setting. Freda’s are currently fundraising for the Big Build as they need to move out of their current premises, so rely on the goodwill and donations of others to help them achieve this!

Once my treatment start date is confirmed, I’ll be live streaming my head shave to share the event with you all. So that anybody else undergoing cancer treatment knows they are not alone…
