Headley's fundraiser for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Headley Hillier is raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association

TCS Toronto 1/2 Marathon · 18 October 2026

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

This October I’m running a half marathon to raise money for MND in the UK and ALS in Canada after my sister’s diagnosis.

Running 21.1km seemed like a sensible response because apparently processing emotions normally is overrated. Up until recently, my greatest athletic achievement was successfully avoiding cardio, while sitting or lying down so this feels both meaningful and slightly irresponsible.

I don’t have a target time yet. At the moment my main goals are:

1. Finish upright

2. Avoid being overtaken by someone dressed as a banana

3. Raise as much money as possible for two causes that desperately need more research and support

MND/ALS is a brutal condition that affects entire families, and I wanted to do something that felt difficult, uncomfortable, and worthwhile — even if my knees strongly disagree.

If you’re able to donate, thank you. If not, moral support, terrible running advice, and pretending any training updates are inspiring are also appreciated.
