We support brain injury survivors in Surrey to live well

Story

NEWS FLASH - in the General Raft Category we came 1st and 3rd!! We are all very exhausted and will ache tomorrow!! Please do still keep sponsoring us. The charity needs the funds as it is predicting a deficit at the end of the year unless we all do our bit. Thank you.

Hello!! We are a crazy bunch of paddlers at Wey Kayak Club and we are doing the raft race!! We want to raise funds for Headway Surrey. Our Team comprises of Sonja (Joint CEO Headway Surrey), Andy, Peter, Batty, Emily, Petrina, Jacqui, Bev, Clive and Linda.

We will have two rafts, once we have built them, so we can race each other!! Sponsor us now!!

At 12 noon, on 1st July we will depart from Millmead Lock in Guildford (next to the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre) and paddle like mad to the Wey Kayak Club, Waterside Centre, Riverside, Guildford GU1 1LW. Where we will probably purchase a beer and burger from the Lions BBQ!! We hope to see you at the start or finish, or along the river bank. We will be in fancy dress, so look out for us and cheer us on.

The charity we are supporting is Headway Surrey which supports adults with brain injury and is based near the Wey Kayak Club in Stoughton in Guildford. They offer a range of services, sessions and groups to help with cognition and executive function, which includes memory, information processing, decision making, managing fatigue, understanding the brain and cognition, emotional and behavioural changes. Also counselling, educational groups, peer support groups, art, walking and social groups to enable independence and motivation to help recovery. Training courses to understand brain injury for the survivor and also their carers and family.
