Hearthstone Investments is again fundraising for Leeds Action to Create Homes (LATCH) https://www.latch.org.uk/. LATCH is a unique charitable organisation that refurbishes derelict and run-down houses in the Chapeltown, Harehills and Burley areas of Leeds. Once the houses have been fully modernised and furnished, they provide housing for people who are homeless or in housing need.

In 2023, we successfully raised capital with a 12 mile walk along the Chiltern Hills on one of the hottest days of the year. The funds raised covered the cost of a container to store building materials. Thank you again to all those who contributed so generously.

This year, we aim to support part of LATCH’s latest and most challenging redevelopment project to date, a derelict mid-terrace house in Leeds that has stood empty for over 20 years. Our fund raising target is £3,000. This will cover the refurbishment cost of the kitchen (see photo!) with worktops, hardware and an integrated oven and hob. If we manage to raise even more, we could also fund the white goods.

Our challenge this year is a day of volunteering at Ashdown Forest, an internationally important biodiverse heathland habitat, home to many rare and threatened species and one of the largest open access green spaces in south east England. On Wednesday 25th September 2024 all staff will be working with the forest rangers to help clear intrusive bracken from the heathland.
