Midnight Walk 2025 · 28 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

Midnight Walk – Here we Go Again….Mamma Mia style Midnight Walk returns on Saturday 28th June at Reaseheath College. So let’s lace up our shoes and conquer the 6 or 11 mile walk all while raising “Money Money Money" for the Hospice.

Story

Along with my wonderful team at Stowe Family Law, I am raising money for the brilliant St Luke's (Cheshire) Hospice.

As a team, we have experienced a number of bereavements over the last year or so, so this is in memory of all those who've passed, who are dear to us still.

In June 2023, Helen's sister Carol Oakes was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive disease: inflammatory breast cancer. She tacked this head-on, with amazing strength, courage and resilience, supported throughout by the wonderful team at St Luke's, who provided emotional & psychological care, as well as much-needed practical advice.

Despite this, very sadly Carol lost her battle on 7 September 2024. She was 44 years old. Carol left behind a husband and two young sons, as well as a wider group of family and friends, all devastated by her loss.

The care which Carol was given at St Luke's meant that, during her final two weeks as an in-patient, she received not only effective pain management, but also buckets of love and emotional support from the dedicated healthcare professionals taking care of her (as did the family & friends who were by her side).

Most importantly perhaps, at a time when she was no longer able to control what was happening to her, it provided Helen's sister with much-needed reassurance that she was safe in their care, as well as affording her the dignity she deserved.

Since Carol died, St Luke's have provided ongoing support to her two sons, which has made losing their mum ever so slightly more bearable.

Hospices like St Luke's get little in the way of government funding; for every £1 spent on patient care 85p is raised through fundraising like the Midnight Walk. So on 28th June, we will be walking 11 miles under the stars from Nantwich to Crewe, all while raising “Money Money Money” for St Luke’s Hospice!

Please dig deep if you possibly can and help us raise as much as possible for this brilliant cause.
