If you’re reading this, yes… I’m as shocked as you are that I’m running at all, never mind the enormous challenge of a half marathon! That being said, myself and 2 other colleagues have decided to sign up to raise awareness and to support those; like the patients we care for day in day out, who are going through a diagnosis of blood cancer. Whether that be the patient themselves or their close family and friends, we see the effect blood cancer has each and every day on the ward. This challenge for us is nothing in comparison to the daily challenges and hurdles patients go through that receive a blood cancer diagnosis and have to go through treatment and beyond. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
