Heather Buttle is raising money for Bookmark

Heather & Allie go skydiving · 11 October 2025

More than 1 in 4 children leave primary school unable to read well. We improve children's literacy by promoting a reading for pleasure culture in schools, with a focus on supporting children in the most disadvantaged communities.

Story

We love books and met through our love of books, in particular those of Jodi Taylor. We want to support literacy in children and help them learn to read and love books too.

We are doing the UK's highest possible skydive for Bookmark Reading Charity - jumping 15,000 feet on (separate) tandem skydives on Saturday 11 October 2025 with almost a full minute of freefall, reaching speeds of 125mph!

More than 1 in 4 children in England leave primary school unable to read well with disadvantaged children leaving primary school on average a year behind their peers. One in eight children aged 5-8 in the UK don’t own a book of their own at home.

Bookmark improves children’s literacy through 1-1 reading support and promoting a reading for pleasure culture in disadvantaged primary schools across the UK.

Please note that we are paying for the skydive ourselves, 100% of this money is going to the charity.
