Heather's Everest Base Camp Fundraising for Willen Hospice

Everest Base Camp Trek · 18 October 2025
Later this year I’ll be participating in a trek to Everest Base Camp 😬 raising money for Willen Hospice. This has been on my bucket list for a long time but getting to do it in support of an amazing, local charity will make it even more rewarding.
As part of my fundraising, I’ll be taking on a few other challenges throughout the year including running a 20 mile race in March, my first full marathon in April, the National 3 Peaks Challenge and a 50km walk in the summer.
100% of the money raised will go straight to Willen Hospice.
Willen Hospice’s care touches thousands of local people every year.
We give comfort, ease pain and reduce anxiety for patients and their loved ones. Every pound given makes a difference - as it enables us to do more for more people across Milton Keynes when and where they need us. We receive less than a quarter of our funding from the NHS, which means the rest is donated or fundraised for by amazing local people. Which is why your support is so important and so appreciated – from everyone we help, thank you.
We need to raise £8.7 million each year to provide our services free of charge
£100 - could provide a day’s medication as part of our care for local people with a life-limiting illness staying in our In-Patient Unit
£54 - could pay for a Willen at Home nurse to be on shift for three hours – ready to visit a local patient in their own home and offer support.
£25 - could pay for a uniform for one of our Willen at Home nurses, making sure they can be recognised when they arrive at a patient’s house.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
