Braving the Shave for Breast Cancer Now

Head Shave · 21 November 2024
On Monday 2nd September I discovered a dimple in my right breast only when lifting my arm. After a series of tests I was diagnosed with Grade 2, Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (Breast Cancer).
Treatment is brutal, I am undergoing 7 rounds of chemotherapy, 18 rounds of targeted therapy, Hormone therapy that will last for around 7 years, Surgery and Radiotherapy. The good news is we are working towards cure 🙏🎀🙏🎀
I have learned so much in such a short space of time and one of the biggest things I've learned is that there is very little I have control of during this process. One thing I can control is my hair, which after 10 days since my first round of chemo has already started falling out and is only going to continue to get worse as the weeks go by.
I desperately wanted to save my hair but cold capping just wasn't suited to me, so now I figure I'm just going to have to embrace losing my hair and try and help others in the process by raising as much money as I can for the locks I'm going to lose and a charity who support so many people going through Breast Cancer. I would also like to honour Sarah Edmundson, someone who was a force of nature and who sadly passed away last month from Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer Now was Sarah's chosen charity alongside WIEA and I would like to continue to honour Sarah for all she did in supporting her chosen charity.
Any amount no matter how small is hugely appreciated.
