At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

As you probably know I am quite partial to a little walk now and again, up to now I have walked just for myself but this year we have decided to walk with a purpose and I've found the perfect partner to do that with, who is just as bonkers about walking and nature as I am!

On one day after the longest day of the year, on 21st June, Euan and I are going to start walking as the sun rises at Ivinghoe Beacon, and follow The Ridgeway footpath until the sun sets. That's over 16 hours of walking.

We have chosen to raise money for The Alzheimer's Society because we want to show support to some very special people, the family who were absolutely fundamental in making mine and Pauls' wedding day happen back on June 22nd 2019 which is the second reason for choosing the date we have.

They were also incredibly supportive during Paul's final months and after he died, they gave me as much comfort and support as you could get from the closest of families, beyond what you could ever imagine from friends.

Devastatingly they have been going through their own struggles, thrown at them by dementia. I hope by doing this walk we raise awareness and some money for a charity that is supporting them through these difficult time

Thank you all for your donations. Heather and Euan. X
