I am challenging myself to run five 10k races in 2025 to help raise money for Candlelighters Trust. Candlelighters is an amazing charity that supports families in Yorkshire whose children are diagnosed with cancer. 

My cousin’s daughter (Rosie) was diagnosed with a spinal tumour in May 2020 (aged 18 months old). Since then, she has undergone two major surgeries and 18 months of chemotherapy. It was an incredibly hard time for my cousin’s family, and the emotional, practical and financial support Candlelighters have offered (and continue to offer) is amazing.

Rosie's tumour reacted very well to the chemotherpay and her long term prognosis is very positive - she is a healthy and amazing 6 year old.

Rosie continues to have MRI scans and an example of support Candlelighter’s provide is funding of therapists to work with her to prepare her to do the MRI scans awake. She has had 14 MRI scans and with each one she has needed a general anaesthetic to keep her still. She enjoys her ‘magic sleep’ and is scared of going in the MRI tunnel awake, but it’s important she learns how to do her scans awake and Candlelighter’s help her (and many other children) with practical and psychological support like that.

Each year, over 150 children in Yorkshire will be diagnosed with cancer. Please help me raise money to support famillies at a time when their lives are turned upside down.
