Both of my dogs Mollie and Crombie came from the Dog's Trust in Leeds just 8 months apart, way back in 2009. They were two adorable, crazy dogs who lived long, happy lives bringing a smile to the faces of anyone who had the joy of meeting them ❤️

I'll be running the London Marathon on Sunday 26 April 2026 to raise money for the Dog's Trust, as I lost both of them in them in the last 18 months. Dog’s Trust do such wonderful things to help both dogs and their owners.

When a dog is at risk, the Dog's Trust help them get back on their paws with healthcare, training, rehabilitation – and lots of love. Dogs come into their care for all kinds of reasons, each with a different personality and requirements. They get to know every dog in their care and give them the tailored support they need.

Each rehoming centre has specialist facilities to give dogs the best possible care. The average stay for a dog in one of the rehoming centres is just 47 days, but some dogs need more care and attention before they are ready to find their forever home. Those dogs will stay loved in their care for as long as they need. Some dogs who stay a long time become their Sponsor Dogs. You can sign up to support them and follow their progress.

Their ‘Together through Homelessness’ schemes support dog owners to stay with their faithful friend. If you're experiencing homelessness, they'll do everything they can to keep you and your dog together.

‘Freedom’ is their free and confidential specialist dog fostering service. If dog owners plan to find safety from domestic abuse but are unable to take their dog with them, Freedom provides a temporary home for their dog with a loving foster carer until their owners are safe, settled and ready to have them back. This confidential service is free to use with all veterinary treatments and dog expenses covered. The volunteer foster carers are fully supported by the Freedom team, giving dog owners peace of mind that their dog is receiving the best possible care.
