This August, our team of six will be taking on one of our biggest challenges yet – swimming the English Channel in a six-person relay.

Starting in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (Dover) each swimmer will take it in turns to swim for an hour before handing over to the next teammate, repeating the cycle until we hopefully reach France 🇫🇷 . It sounds simple on paper, but the Channel is anything but predictable!

We’ll be battling cold water, strong tides, shipping lanes, jellyfish, seasickness, exhaustion and the ever-changing weather. Then there’s the biggest unknown of all – whether we’ll actually make it.

With six swimmers involved, there are so many variables, and if one thing goes wrong, it can affect the whole team. After months of training, there are still no guarantees… but we’re determined to give it everything we’ve got.

We’re taking on this challenge in support of **SwimTayka**, an incredible charity whose mission is to prevent children from drowning. They provide free swimming lessons, water safety education and environmental stewardship programmes to children living in disadvantaged communities alongside rivers, lakes and oceans in Britain & around the world. By teaching life-saving swimming skills and respect for water, SwimTayka is helping children gain confidence, stay safe and giving them opportunities that many of us take for granted\. The charity has already helped thousands of children across countries including Peru, Brazil, Vietnam, Indonesia and Tanzania and now has programs in place in the uk
