Hela Sarana: Support Displaced Communities from Cyclone Ditwah, Sri Lanka

Ruwan Wijeratna is raising money for Hela Sarana
Founded in 1996, run entirely by a group of volunteers living in the U.K and its goal has always been support communities living extremely arduous conditions and in some of the most inhospitable terrain an in remote areas across Sri Lanka.

Story

We are raising money to respond urgently to the devastating impact of Cyclone Ditwah, which has displaced thousands of families across Sri Lanka. Homes, livelihoods, and essential services have been destroyed, leaving many without safe shelter, food, clean drinking water, or access to medical care.

Hela Sarana has already committed £5,000 towards emergency relief, providing temporary shelter materials, clean water, food parcels, hygiene kits, and basic medical supplies. However, the scale of need is far greater than what our initial funding can support.

This emergency appeal will allow us to act quickly and reach significantly more households with life-saving assistance. Additional funds will help us procure and distribute essential supplies, support rapid needs assessments with local partners, and ensure that displaced families receive the shelter, nutrition, and medical care they urgently need.

In short, we are raising money because thousands of people are depending on immediate, sustained support, and with your help, we can expand our response and protect vulnerable communities during this critical time.
