Story
My son Joey and I are taking on a mile-a-day challenge throughout August in memory of my wonderful mum, Julie O’Brien.
LOROS Hospice cared for Mum in her final weeks, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. She often said it felt more like a luxury hotel than a hospice — she was pampered, loved, and treated with such dignity and compassion. Thanks to the incredible staff, she truly felt at home, and we as a family were supported every step of the way.
To honour her memory and give something back, Joey and I are running a mile every day this month to raise money for LOROS. It’s our way of saying thank you — and helping ensure other families can receive the same level of care and comfort that meant so much to us.
It breaks our hearts that LOROS is now having to scale back some of its services due to funding challenges. We hope our fundraising will not only raise awareness, but also contribute to keeping their vital work going💛
LOROS is a charity whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of adult patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible. Patients are treated at the Hospice and in the community based upon clinical need, regardless of background and the ability to pay.
