Helen and Annemarie's fundraiser for Brain Tumour Research

Walking Hadrian's Wall · 9 April 2025
This walk is to raise money for Brain Tumour Research and in memory of Martin.
In February 2023 we received the devastating news that Helen’s husband Martin had glioblastoma multiforme, the most aggressive type of cancer that originates in the brain. He died in February 2024.
Martin loved walking and in June 2016 just after he retired he walked Hadrian’s Wall.
Helen was reading a walking book of this journey to Martin in his last few days and told him she was going to retrace his steps and walk the route herself.
This walking challenge is being completed by Helen and her good friend Annemarie who she shared many a walk with.
‘Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable!’
Brain Tumour Research are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK.
Please help us fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
