Story
The 'Communities and Place Team' at Edberts House initiated and developed a wealth of work to reduce health inequalities, including supporting men's mental health in East Gateshead. The Men's Group created, provides a warm welcoming space, a range of activities building social connection, encourages physical activity and generally tries to reduce isolation and support better health and wellbeing. The funding for all of this work has now come to an end, but the need has not, and the activities and support are hugely important to the lives of those who take part.
To proactively help develop and sustain this group, Chrissy Milburn, Nick Fearby and myself are hoping to raise funds by joining those group members who are able in an abseiling challenge at Causey Arch. Those not able to take part will be cheering us on and supporting the challenge. We hope this will enable the group to continue for another year at least.
The abseil will also be undertaken in memory of regular group member John Hopkins, who passed away recently and is sadly missed. You and your family John will be in all of our thoughts.
The group have agreed, should the overall target be surpassed, surplus funds will be used to sustain other activities developed through this work which also support men's mental health.
Please help if you can, all donations no matter how small will help and be hugely appreciated by us all.
Helen, Chrissy, Nick and all at the Men's Group x
