Together, Let's Beat Macular Disease!

Story

I'm excited to share that I'm running the iconic TCS London Marathon 2025 to support #TeamMacular in the fight against macular disease! After 11years of trying I have been lucky to get a place again.

Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK. There are around 300 people diagnosed every day and the disease is known to be hereditary. It not only steals your sight but also your confidence and the ability to engage in activities we cherish. As well as some of my family members, my mum is unfortunately one of these people. She was diagnosed in 2013. During this time she has endured month after month of painful injections into her eyes as well as several other visits to the hospital. While this helped to prolong her sight for the short term she is now totally blind in one eye and has partial sight in the other. Seeing her go through this has been awful yet she still manages to keep smiling and god knows how she does it, but she still cooks up a wicked Sunday lunch. (Puds are at 3 and all that 😄) She is simply amazing.

There is a pressing need for more research funding to find a cure or effective treatments that can halt this condition in its tracks. The Macular Society stands as the only charity dedicated to combating the fear and isolation associated with macular disease through world-class research, expert advice, and unwavering support. Just £10 alone can help 1 person struggling with macular disease get the support they need. This could help 25 people. I am asking for your help to reach my fundraising target of £250. Your generous contributions will directly support vital medical research that could lead us to the breakthroughs we need for future generations. Sadly its too late for my mum but together, we can make a difference and bring hope to others who are affected by this condition.

Thankyou 💕
