Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

This spring, life has once again asked me to step away from my studio.

When I recently opened the studio door, I was met by a familiar stillness. Dust had settled lightly across the table. Brushes stood untouched. Half-finished paintings waited exactly where I had left them. For much of March and April, the studio has been quieter than usual, not through choice, but because life beyond it has demanded something more immediate.

In 2023, my husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 methylated Glioblastoma, an aggressive and devastating form of brain cancer. Since then, our lives have been shaped by surgeries, treatments, appointments, and the exhausting uncertainty that comes with such a diagnosis.

This year, we are facing its resurgence.

Once again, our family is living within the harsh reality of brain cancer. Once again, there are scans, consultations, difficult decisions, and the emotional weight that Glioblastoma carries with it every single day. When this disease returns, it does not simply interrupt life, it reshapes it.

These past months have made one thing painfully clear: when someone you love is fighting for their life, priorities no longer need organising. They simply become clear. Family. Health. Presence. Showing up. Everything else, even the work that matters deeply, softens at the edges for a while.

And yet, as May arrives, so does something profoundly important to me: Go Grey For May.

This cause is deeply personal because Glioblastoma is not an abstract illness in our home. It is relentless, heartbreaking, and urgent. Brain cancer research remains critically underfunded, despite the devastating reality faced by thousands of families every year.

That is why I am once again holding my annual raffle in support of Brain Cancer Research.

For every £5 donated, you will receive one entry into the raffle to win an original signed oil painting:

Whispers Of Silent Things (2024)

£5 = 1 entry

£10 = 2 entries

£20 = 4 entries

etc. etc.

Every donation will go directly toward Brain Cancer Research, helping fund the breakthroughs, treatments, and hope that families like mine so desperately need.

For many, this fight is heartbreakingly personal.

If you are able to donate, share, or simply help raise awareness, thank you. In the face of something as enormous as Glioblastoma, even the smallest acts of generosity can help carry hope forward.

Thank you for standing with us, and with every family living through the unimaginable reality of brain cancer.
