Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year I turned the Big 60 and as some of you know 2 years ago I did the C25K and took up running. In my 60th year I wanted to set myself a challenge and so i decided to sign up for the London Landmarks Half Marathon.

I have chosen to run for the MS Society as is it a charity that has become close to my heart as last year at the age of 31 my close friend Joanne's daughter Jessica was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis. This is her story.....

'Last year at the end of my nursing placement I was driving home and noticed that i was seeing double of the cars in front of me. After visits to the opticians and no change in my vision I went to the emergency eye clinic at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. After an emergency MRI I was told the devastating news I had lesions on my brain and was the given the RRMS diagnosis. Due to being in an active relapse I was given the opportunity to join the MS star trial at the hospital and put on a highly effective disease modifying therapy. I am still under the star trial and they are monitoring me regularly. It has been a devastating blow to myself, my family and friends who I can't thank enough for being so supportive. But not everyone is as lucky as me and need the support of charities like the MS Society.

Helen has taken on a massive challenge and I can't thank her enough for taking it on to raise money for such a fantastic charity who i've already had help from when I was diagnosed and is still helping me today in various ways. Thank you Helen.'

Any amount of money however small that you donate will be a great help to reach my minimum goal of £350 and keep me motivated whilst training for the event which takes place on Sunday 6th April.

To get the legs running I will be starting the Just Giving page off with a donation of £60....£60 for my 60th!

PLEASE SHARE to ALL your FRIENDS AND FAMILIES and HELP ME raise as much as possible for JESS and everyone one else living with MS and MOTIVATE in the next 10 weeks as i train.

THANKYOU, Helen and Jess xx
