Story
2024 marked 20 years since our beautiful Mum lost her long battle with breast cancer and 10 years since I underwent preventative breast surgery, via the Nightingale Breast Cancer unit at Wythenshawe Hospital. Mum became heavily involved in the charity ‘Genesis’ soon after her diagnosis (which more recently was renamed ‘Prevent’) raising money to build the Nightingale Centre itself, hoping one day her work would help me and many others. Prevention is the key; don’t wait until that lump or abnormal mammogram is found. To date I have run 350km since December as part of my London marathon training, a real test of both physical and mental endurance for a great cause, in memory of Mum. Please help me to raise as much as I can. Thank you for your support!
‘Predict. Prevent. Protect. You could call it our mantra. As the only UK charity entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer, we’re committed to freeing the world from the disease altogether. Unlike many cancer charities, we’re focused on preventing, rather than curing. Promoting early diagnosis, screening and lifestyle changes, we believe we can stop the problem before it starts. Being situated at the only breast cancer prevention centre in the UK, we’re right at the front-line in the fight against the disease.
