Story
I’m going to attempt to run (and walk) all 100 miles of the South Downs Way in one go in support of my incredible student and buddy, Josh. Josh was diagnosed at the age of 13 with a highly aggressive brain tumour just after he moved back to the U.K. to begin what should have been an exciting next chapter in his life at a new school.
Josh is currently the only person in the world suffering with this particular cancer, so he and his family have placed their trust in the wonderful staff at the Royal Marsden to lead them through his treatment.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. They ensure that their nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.
From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, they never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
When I encounter problems, mental weakness and pure agony while trying to finish this race, I’m going to think about what strength and positivity Josh has demonstrated these last few months, and hopefully that will keep me going. He’s one inspiring guy.
