Story
I’m about to do something that terrifies me (More than anything) - I’m jumping out of a plane.
But this isn’t really about the skydive - I’m doing it to raise money for Norfolk and Waveney Mind a charity that provides vital mental health support, including talking therapies, for people when they need it most.
Having access to that kind of support can be life-changing. Being able to talk, to feel heard, and to have someone help you make sense of what you’re going through is something so many people rely on and yet it’s not something everyone can easily access.
I’ve experienced talking therapy myself, during a time in my life when things felt overwhelming after having my children. It gave me space to breathe again, and helped me start to find my way back to myself.
I’ve also lived with anxiety and mental health challenges for years, and more recently, being diagnosed with ADHD has helped me understand so much more about how my mind works. It hasn’t made everything easy, but it’s made things clearer and that’s made a difference.
What I do know is this: mental health struggles are incredibly common, but they’re often invisible. People are carrying more than we realise, quietly getting through each day as best they can.
And that’s why charities like Norfolk and Waveney Mind matter so much.
They provide support, understanding, and a place for people to turn when things feel too heavy to carry alone.
I’m doing this skydive not just to raise money, but to prove something to myself and to my children. That fear doesn’t get to decide what we do. That even when something feels overwhelming, we can face it with support, with love, and with people who help us find our way through.
Because not everyone has that support, and that’s why this matters.
If you can donate, share, or support in any way, it really does mean everything. You’re not just helping me jump out of a plane, you’re helping someone else get the support they need when life feels like too much.
