Story
I am running for Beaumond house hospice in memory of my parents Thelma and John.
In January 2021 my mum went into hospital for routine tests and whilst in there she caught covid with only a 50 % chance of survival she fought through it then got the diagnosis of cancer. She was the strongest person I knew but in late August 2021 she had a rapid decline and needed help when we couldn't look after her anymore. Beaumond house hospice at home team stepped in allowing us to spend time with mum with out the pressure. The team were amazing not just looking after Mum but Dad too. When Dad became ill suddenly they took Mum in as an a in patient, nothing was too much trouble the didn't just support and care for Mum but the care was there for Dad too. Mum passed away peacefully at the hospice in September 2021 with us by her side. Dad never forgot the support they gave, 18 months later Mum came and fetched Dad and now they are both at peace. This run will be my last big challenge, I have ran it 3 times previously but this time it means so so so much more, Mum and Dad won't be on the road anymore cheering me on but its for them and for the families that will be supported in the future by Beaumond house who just make the worst time just that little bit easier.
