Story
I'm taking part in Child.org's Ride Africa challenge: a friend and I will be cycling hundreds of kilometres cross-country in Kenya to raise money for life-saving work in maternal and child health.
Children born in sub-Saharan Africa are 15 times more likely to die in childhood than children in Europe and the earliest days of life are still the most dangerous for children born in Kenya. Child.org works with pregnant women, new families, communities and government to provide lifesaving antenatal and postnatal healthcare and services.
We are of course funding the trip and associated costs ourselves so all donations go straight to the charity to support their life-saving antenatal healthcare work in Kenya.
I'm busy training - mostly on my extremely heavy shopping bike - in the hope that it'll feel easier to complete the challenge on a proper bike. If you see me commuting to work or doing laps of Richmond Park at the weekend then feel free to pass me a latte or pop a croissant in the basket for fuel.
I would be extremely grateful for any donations you feel able to make to this wonderful cause. Thank you so much!
