Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A couple of years ago I went to stay with a friend. At the time she was fostering a young man who had fled Sudan after seeing his father shot in front of him and arrived in the UK, on a small boat, as an unaccompanied minor. His story was both harrowing and inspiring. He had taught himself English by watching films on Netflix, had settled well at school and was hoping to go on to college to study car mechanics.
Every refugee is somebody's mother, son, uncle, daughter, father, aunt... with a personal story of courage in the face of adversity, who deserves to be treated with compassion and respect.
I am therefore grateful for this opportunity to support Upbeat Communities in the work they do welcoming refugees and asylum seekers, and helping them to rebuild their lives in the UK
