I have signed up to walk the Edinburgh Kiltwalk Mighty Stride (21 miles) in September to help raise funds for Oaklands Special School where I work. We are hoping to raise enough for a new piece of equipment - an Innowalk.The Innowalk is an innovative dynamic standing device, that enables movement and physical activity for children with significantly reduced independent standing and walking abilities.

Some words from my Head Teacher about Oaklands:

Oaklands is an amazing place! It is a school for children and young people from 3-18 with profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex medical and healthcare needs. Many of them have life limiting conditions.

We try to make sure every young person who attends Oaklands gets as many and as varied experiences as their mainstream peers, from attending a residential to experiencing a theatre show.

We are very lucky to have amazing staff like Helen, who want to support our young people by taking on fantastic challenges like the Kilt Walk. We are very grateful to her, and to you for the support.
