Story
Each day on my walk to work it continues to upset me that I see the same, familiar faces lying on pavements, sitting in doorways, all in varying states of conscious/unconscious as I trot past and start my day at the office. Homelessness and addiction is a relentless way of life, so difficult to escape from and can end lives.
To mark World Homelessness Day on Tuesday 10th October, I shall give up my memory foam mattress and duck down duvet to take part in the Big Sleep Out. Whilst it will never compare to what those who sleep rough go through, I want to raise awareness of the dreadful realities facing hundreds of people experiencing homelessness and addiction on our streets. I’m making a choice to sleep outside without the security of a front door or roof over my head. These people don’t have that choice.
I'm raising money for Spitalfields Crypt Trust, an East London charity which supports people out of homelessness and addiction. Every penny raised will contribute to help break the cycle and equip people with the tools to live happier and more fulfilling lives.
Please dig deep!
Thank you
