29th March 2026 - Sheffield Half Marathon
A date that will stay with me forever: Forty years ago to the day, on 29 March 1986, I met my late husband, Ian on the dancefloor of Sheffield’s legendary Roxy’s Nightclub. I was 18, he was 19, and neither of us could have imagined how much that moment would shape our lives.
On 12 December 2023, Ian passed away at just 57, cared for with extraordinary compassion by the team in Neuro Critical Care at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, after being diagnosed with a pineal brain tumour. Their dedication meant everything during the hardest of times.
To honour Ian’s memory—and to give something back to those who cared for him—I’m running the Sheffield Half Marathon, raising as much as I can for the amazing Sheffield Hospitals Charity.

Sheffield Hospitals Charity help Sheffield’s hospitals, community teams and health and social care services to cover costs their NHS budgets can’t.
They fund support for patients and staff, life-changing research and more, so that they can enhance care from birth to the end of life and everything in between.
Somewhere along the line, their funding is likely to have helped you or someone you love.
