In April 2026, I will be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon for a cause I feel passionately about.

Mental health amongst young people is at crisis point - anxiety, self-harm, depression, eating disorders and so much more. These are all challenges that no child or family should have to navigate alone and they are heartbreakingly common. Especially since Covid, too many young people are reaching a point where they feel they have nowhere left to turn.

Seeing all this first-hand, my wonderful friend Hannah Tuckwell decided to take action and set up The Nest.

The Nest welcomes young people (who are often not in full time education or employment due to their mental health) to a Suffolk farm and gives them a new opportunity to work on their mental health in a professional setting, all whilst being outdoors, looking after animals, and learning new skills. The success rate is incredible and as a trustee of the charity, I have seen first hand the invaluable difference they are making to young people's lives - often at the point when their parents felt they had nowhere else to turn.

As a mother, and as someone who has their own experiences of mental health, I could not think of a better charity to support. £1,500 will fund a placement for a young person to attend The Nest for one day a week for a term - and the data shows this is often all it takes to turn a life around.

Finally, I am NOT a runner! Before starting training, the furthest I had run was 10km (when I was 17...) so it has been a mountain to climb. I have run through winter nights in the cold, wind, rain, snow, ice, with injuries and during illness - and I am still going.
