Story
Our Story...
Ruth and I are taking part in Race Across West Yorkshire 2026, to raise money for the incredible Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
Our team name, Serendipity, feels fitting. We were recently introduced by a mutual friend, and after only meeting a couple of times we found ourselves on a charity walk organised by Ossett Brewery.
During the walk, Michelle told us about the Race Across West Yorkshire challenge and the amazing work Forget Me Not does for children with life-shortening conditions and their families. Within a few minutes, we had both said, “we’d love to do that.” And the rest, as they say, is history.
The Challenge...
On 17 April 2026, we’ll be dropped at a mystery starting location somewhere in West Yorkshire and will have 12 hours to navigate checkpoints, complete challenges and make it to the finish line. Inspired by Race Across the World, it will test our teamwork, problem solving and stamina… and quite possibly our sense of direction.
Why It Matters...
This is a cause that’s very close to both of our hearts, especially following the loss of Ruth’s two-year-old goddaughter, Florence.
No family expects to face something like that, and it brings into sharp focus just how important the right support is during the most difficult times. Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is there for families when they need it most, offering care, compassion and support that makes an unbearable situation just a little more manageable. That’s why this matters to us.
How You Can Help...
Each team is asked to raise at least £500, and we would love to go beyond that. Every donation, no matter the size, helps support families who need it most. And if you can’t donate, a share or a message of support will genuinely help keep us going, especially when we inevitably look like we’ve taken a wrong turn somewhere in West Yorkshire!
Thank You...
Thank you so much for your support, it really does mean a lot.
