Helen's fundraiser for PRDA (Pelvic Radiation Disease Association)

10 Challenges
In 2014, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. After a successful hysterectomy and clear scans, I thought I could finally move on. Unfortunately, the cancer returned in December of that year and again in 2015. Multiple surgeries and treatments followed, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy. While I am grateful for the care and treatment I received from the NHS, the side effects have been difficult to manage. I have been diagnosed with lymphoedema and Pelvic Radiation Disease (PRD), which has greatly impacted my physical and psychological health.
2024 marks 10 years since that original diagnosis, so I am participating in 10 Challenges to raise funds for PRDA (Pelvic Radiation Disease Association). This personal challenge is important to me because it allows me to give back to an organization that has helped me through some of my toughest times. PRDA provides support for those affected by PRD, including infertility, incontinence, pain, embarrassment, and emotional issues as a consequence of radiotherapy treatment for bowel, prostate, cervical and other pelvic cancers.
