Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We are fundraising for Make A Special Kid Smile (MASKS), the charity which supports The Vale Federation of special schools in Aylesbury, where I work as a Speech and Language Therapist.

This summer we are fundraising across the schools for some much needed specialist technology for communication, including eye-gaze technology, specialist switches, and specialist software. This technology with allow our pupils to operate computer software using movements with their legs, heads, knees, arms or even their eyes, so they can tell us what they want to say. Our pupils all communicate in their own ways, and we want to make sure we have the right technology available to help them find their voice. We know that they have plenty to say!

Bradley and I have set ourselves the challenge of the Castle to Coast Triathlon on 20th July 2024. This starts in Windsor and ends in Brighton, covering a frankly intimidating 70.3 miles by swimming, cycling, and running. We will start with a 1.2 mile swim in Dorney lake, before cycling 66 miles through the beautiful but 'rolling' Surrey Hills, then ending with an equally hilly half marathon along the South Downs Way to finish on Brighton Sea Front. This promises to be an epic day out, and let's hope we can both stay conscious and functioning enough to complete it!
