Story
Mark spent the last 19 days of his life in the wonderful care of LOROS. The level of care he received was truly incredible. The staff did everything they could to make him as comfortable as possible, while also supporting us as a family through an incredibly difficult time.
Thanks to LOROS, we were able to spend precious, quality time together — even sitting in the courtyard in the sunshine, reminiscing and making memories. The day before Mark died, he was too weak to get out of bed, but he still wanted to be outside in the garden. The staff brought him out on his bed so he could enjoy the sunshine. He smiled and asked for a Piña Colada, which was promptly delivered. He took a sip and simply said, “Lush.” It was such a special moment, and one we will treasure forever.
That is what LOROS does — it gives patients dignity, comfort and moments of happiness at the end of their lives, while providing invaluable support to the families around them.
On Saturday 5th September 2026, Helen, Sue and David will be cycling around Leicestershire to raise money for LOROS Hospice. On Sunday 6th September Helen will be back on her bike joined by Florence to ride 100km for the Fox and Tiger LOROS ride.
We would be incredibly grateful if you could dig deep and support us. Every single £1 really does count, and every donation will help LOROS continue to provide the extraordinary care that made such a difference to Mark and to all of us as a family.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for helping us give something back to LOROS. ❤️
