Two Women. One Map. Zero Phones. Endless Walking. Probably Rain and Absolutely No Idea!

We’re Northern Grit – a fearless (but bonkers) duo taking on the Race Across Lancashire challenge. No phones. No apps. No digital help. For 2 days!

Just public transport, a paper map, and a backpack full of toiletries and make-up (some of us need more help than others) covering around 200 miles across Lancashire.

Meet the Team:

• Steph – older, wiser, hasn’t been on a bus in over 20 years. Can read a map like a legend, likes a plan, but will only walk after food!

• Helen – younger, fitter, with low tolerance levels when starved of coffee and/or her phone! will need to be steered away from any en route pubs

What could possibly go wrong!

Together, we’re braving the unpredictable Lancashire weather and walking more than we ever planned. If we miss a bus, we walk. If we get lost, we walk. If we argue… we walk in opposite directions. If we start laughing…. we can’t stop 😂

Why Are We Doing This?

Because we jumped in with both feet without even reading the details about what this actually involves!

And, because Lancashire Women is doing incredible work supporting over 6,000 women every year. They offer safe spaces and free services for mental health, employment, money advice, and more.

How You Can Help

We’re swapping Google Maps for guesswork and Uber for “Ugh, where’s the bus stop?” All in the name of charity. We’ll be carrying everything we need on our backs—including toiletries, snacks, a poncho and possibly each other over the finish line.
