Royal Parks Half Marathon 2023 · 8 October 2023 ·

For all our runners participating in the Royal Parks Half Marathon.

Story

Since completing my first half marathon a few months ago - I haven’t stopped thinking about when I can do my next. Now I have decided to challenge myself and take on the Royal Parks Half Marathon on the 8th October 2023. With a sub 2hr goal set I am so excited to get back to training again!

When I took up running a few years ago I didn’t realise how much of an impact it would have on my life. As difficult as some runs still feel - there is nothing quite like that runner‘s high. For me, running perfectly complements any other training I enjoy - like pilates or boxing. It's become an integral part of my routine over the years. I was inspired by my own progress, as well as the incredible community of London runners I discovered when I moved over last year - so I decided to set myself new goals. It started at 10k races and has since progressed to half marathons :)

I am extremely excited to be partnered with Run for Heroes on this upcoming event and to raise money for such an amazing cause.

Run For Heroes are on a mission to get as many people active as possible, while raising vital funds for health and well-being initiatives throughout the UK.

In 2020, they raised over £10 million for NHS Charities Together by launching the viral fundraising campaign #Run5Donate5Nominate5. This encouraged over 1.5 million people across the UK to get active and give back.

Today, Run For Heroes focus on preventative care by funding projects that encourage adults and children to participate in physical activity. Proceeds in 2023 will be donated to the following initiatives:

1. Projects that provide disadvantaged young people free access to physical activity - tackling access barriers in sport.

2. Mental health projects in partnership with the NHS to promote mental wellbeing, improve physical health, combat social isolation, and empower people to move their lives forward in a positive direction.

3. Fund equipment for adults and children with disabilities that aid participation in sport.

All your support is greatly appreciated.
