Story
On Monday 23rd October, following a meeting with Stockport Council, NK Theatre Arts had to announce the very disappointing news that the upcoming Rock n Horror Graveyard Show scheduled for this weekend would have to be cancelled, resulting in a financial loss to the Charity of approximately £8000
The cast of over 30 performers are all unpaid members of the theatre who have given up hours of time rehearsing for the show, one which has been enjoyed by audiences for the past 20 years, and one which plays a vital role in raising funds the Charity.
As many are aware, following a change to Government Guidance, a decision was taken to temporarily close The Forum Theatre in Romiley at the beginning of September due to the known presence of Reinforced Aerated Autoclave Concrete (RAAC) in the building. The temporary closure was intended as a precautionary measure only whilst further surveys were undertaken on the theatre roof. Stockport Council offered assurances that this was a high priority.
Nearly two months on, the doors remain closed.
So why this fundraiser?
NK Theatre Arts is a charitable institution that provides a wide range of theatre arts activities for people of all ages and abilities. The closure of the Forum Theatre has meant that NK Theatre Arts has had to cancel or relocate many of its classes, workshops, and performances. This will have a significant impact on the charity's income and its ability to provide its services to the community.
We need to raise awareness and money to support the Charity whilst the main source of their operating revenue, the shows and theatre hires, remain unable to go ahead.
If you can give something, anything, to help an incredible organisation who are so important to so many, I'd be really grateful.
