Hello there❗

Our names are Gerardo and Eva and we are struggling to keep our furry daughters healthy. More than three months ago, Lucky, our canine daughter, was playing fetch with the ball. She was running when she suddenly screamed and fell to the floor. She couldn't move on her back legs and her belly was bleeding. The first thing I thought was that someone had shot her or that she had come across a trap for some other animal. I carried her home and we took her to the vet. They told us that nothing was broken but that maybe she had a muscle tear, she was treated and is better today but needs medical attention from a chiropractor because she still has a limp and also needs some dental extractions. She was rescued from Mexico, when she found us she was in very bad condition, we decided to take her to the vet and it turned out to be worse than we thought. She was diagnosed with a heartworm and there was no medicine out there (Mexico) to save her, she had approximately 6 months to live and that is why we decided to bring her to the USA to save her life and find her a home, but by the time we got home, we already love her and we decided to keep her.

And Puff, our feline daughter, is 10 years old and more than a month ago, she was on the verge of dying. We took her to the hospital and they told us that because of everything she had, it was better to put her to sleep. She had advanced diabetes, kidney stones and potencially develop fatty liver. We did not give up and decided to have her treated to save her life. She was hospitalized for approximately a week, she improved but requires lifelong treatment with insulin and a special diet. Now we are struggling with the hospital bill and the interest it generated on our credit card. Any help is welcome and appreciated. This situation has inspired us to in the future, start an online foundation to help more projects that help animals in need in Latin America (where it's needed more), also, we would like to donate heartworm medicine to that part of Mexico where Lucky comes from (Tulum) where heartworm is very abundant and help Alma Animal (local nonprofit vet) because they care about the animals and help them from the bottom of their hearts.
