🚨 RINGWORM POSITIVE CASE 🚨

Sadly, we have now received confirmation that one of our shelter dogs has tested positive for ringworm. 💔

The remaining tests are still developing and we will not have the full results until next Wednesday, when we will know whether any other dogs have been affected.

As one dog has now tested positive, our original precautionary lockdown unfortunately has to continue at full force. The affected dog has been isolated, but ringworm is highly contagious, so we are continuing with strict infection-control measures to protect the rest of the animals in our care and, hopefully, keep this as an isolated case.

🐾 This means the shelter will now remain closed to visitors until early September.

The exact reopening date will be confirmed once we are closer to the time and have the necessary clearance.

💔 But this is having a devastating financial impact on us.

We rely heavily on adoptions, donations and fundraising to keep the shelter running. We are not government funded, and with no adoptions currently taking place, our income has already dropped by around two thirds.

This comes after an incredibly difficult month in June, when our veterinary bills alone were nearly £20,000.

🐈 WE ALSO NEED CAT FOSTER HOMES

With the shelter closed to the public, we cannot currently carry out our usual meet & greets. We are looking at ways we can continue adoptions safely without people visiting the shelter, but foster homes would help us enormously in the meantime.

We are looking for people who may be able to offer short-term foster homes for our cats while we work to find them permanent families.

Fosterers would need to:

🐾 Have the cat in their home

🐾 Carry out meet & greets at their home with potential adopters

🐾 Bring the cat to any necessary veterinary appointments

🐾 Help with vaccinations, flea treatment and worming as required

🐾 Provide a safe, loving temporary home until they are adopted

These would be short-term foster placements — just until we can find the right forever home.
