π Hemel Hempstead Hospital - Wear it pink π
π UTC 100-Mile October Challenge π
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year our team has decided to come together to do something positive to support Breast Cancer Now and West Hertfordshire Hospitals Charity.
Our fundraising will be split equally between the two charities. 50% will go to Breast Cancer Now, supporting its vital research and support for people affected by breast cancer, and 50% will go to West Hertfordshire Hospitals Charity, with the funds ring-fenced to support the Breast Clinic at St Albans City Hospital.
This means our fundraising will support breast cancer care both nationally and right here within our local NHS services.
During October, thousands of people across the UK will be affected by breast cancer. They are mums and daughters, friends and colleagues. Someone loved. Someone missed.
Breast Cancer Now has a bold vision β that by 2050, everyone affected by breast cancer will live and live well. Every pound raised will help fund life-saving research and life-changing support, helping make that vision a reality.
At the same time, our fundraising for West Hertfordshire Hospitals Charity will help support the Breast Clinic at St Albans City Hospital, making a difference to local patients and the services supporting them.
ππ Wear It Pink β 23 October π
On 23 October, Hemel Hempstead Hospital will be taking part in Wear It Pink Day.
We'll be swapping our usual uniform for something pink for the day, where appropriate for those working clinically, and we'll be encouraging the whole of the Hemel Hempstead Hospital site to join us.
We want to see pink across the site as we come together to show our support for everyone affected by breast cancer.
And our message is simple...
The pinker, the better! π
πΆββοΈ Hemel UTC challenge: 100 miles in October
Throughout the 31 days of October, we are challenging ourselves as a team to collectively walk 100 miles.
The miles will be built up through short walks taken during our working day as wellbeing and reflection breaks. Staff will be encouraged to get outside, walk around our hospital site and, where possible, explore the local area.
Every walk, every mile and every person taking part will contribute towards our team target of 100 miles.
For us, this isn't just about reaching a number.
It's an opportunity to step away from our busy working environment, get some fresh air, support our own wellbeing and, most importantly, come together as a team for a cause that affects so many people.
π Why this matters to us
We are taking on this challenge in honour of everyone who has been affected by breast cancer β those currently living with or fighting the disease, those we have sadly lost, and the families, friends and colleagues who support them.
This challenge is also particularly personal to our team as our colleague Julie is currently fighting her own battle with breast cancer.
October is a particularly significant month for her, and we wanted to use this opportunity to show our support and let her know that we are behind her every step of the way. π
π· Please support our challenge
We would be incredibly grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small.
Your support will help Breast Cancer Now continue its vital work supporting people affected by breast cancer and funding research, while also supporting the Breast Clinic at St Albans City Hospital through West Hertfordshire Hospitals Charity.
Whether you donate Β£5, Β£10 or simply share our fundraising page with others, you will be helping us turn our 100-mile team challenge into something that can make a real difference.
100 miles. One team. Lots of pink. Two important charities. One very special reason. π
Thank you for supporting us! ππΆββοΈπΆββοΈ
