Story
We’re running the Henley River Half Marathon this April to raise money for Days for Girls UK, a charity that works to ensure that girls and women around the world have access to safe, sustainable menstrual health solutions.
We both love a challenge, and taking on a half marathon felt like the perfect way to push ourselves while supporting a cause that genuinely makes a difference. We’ve both seen how impactful fundraising can be for Days for Girls and would love to be able to make even a small difference to support girls across the world.
For me (Nia), this cause is especially meaningful. Having volunteered with Days for Girls for several years and have seen firsthand how much time, care, and hard work goes into creating the reusable menstrual health kits. Each kit can support a girl for years, helping her stay in school and continue her education during her period. Seeing the dedication of the volunteers and the real impact these kits have makes this cause incredibly important to us.
By running the Henley River Half Marathon, we hope to raise funds that will help create more kits and support the organisation’s mission of improving menstrual health access, dignity, and opportunity for girls and women worldwide.
I have even dragged Timo over from the Netherlands so we can take on the 21 kilometres together, so knowing we have your support will definitely help keep us going all the way to the finish line! 🏃♀️🏃♂️
